Finding the Right Supplier

The beginner's biggest question — and where the biggest deception happens too. Choose the wrong supplier and the business dies even with the right product.

The short answer

The right eBay supplier is one who: (1) sells on wholesale terms (not a retail site), (2) ships from a US warehouse (3-7 day delivery), (3) gives correct tracking on time, (4) ships in plain packing without their own branding. Suppliers like these are found on platforms such as CJ Dropshipping and through select US wholesale suppliers — and the surest test is always a test order.

Ask these 5 questions before anything else

  1. How many days is delivery within the US?
  2. When and how do I get the tracking number?
  3. Does the packet carry your logo or name?
  4. If the product arrives damaged, what is the return/replacement rule?
  5. When stock runs out, do you warn me first or does my listing keep running?

A supplier who dodges these answers is your first red flag.

The test order — 10 minutes that save months

For any new supplier, place one small order yourself first: how many days did it take, how was the packing, was the product exactly like the photo? Listing 50 products without testing is shooting in the dark.

China vs US warehouse

China is cheaper, but 15-25 day delivery does not survive in the US market — customers cancel, demand refunds, and leave bad reviews. A US warehouse costs a little more, but delivery is fast and your account stays safe. In the long race, fast delivery wins.

Frequently asked questions

Is AliExpress the best supplier for eBay?

AliExpress has everything, but most of its sellers are retail-like and delivery is slow. For eBay's policy and for the customer, a US-warehouse wholesale supplier is better. People who start with AliExpress get hit hardest on delivery time.

Does the supplier take money upfront or after a sale?

Usually you pay the supplier at the time of the order. That is why a small rolling amount (working capital) is needed at the start — the full picture is on this page.

One supplier or many?

At the start, 1-2 trustworthy suppliers are enough. More suppliers = more confusion and more mistakes. Understand one properly first, then grow.
